Nearly two weeks after the domestic fight between Chris Brown and Rihanna was reported -- and both celebs are nowhere in sight -- a photo of a battered Rihanna has finally surfaced.

Late Thursday (February 19), TMZ.com posted a photograph of what seems to be a bruised Rihanna shortly after her fight with then boyfriend Chris Brown.

In the photograph, as you can see, Rihanna's eyes are closed, and there are visible contusions on her forehead, cheeks and mouth.

TMZ did not comment on how the photo was obtained, and claims it is a "photo of Rihanna taken after Chris Brown allegedly beat her."

The LAPD has yet to confirm the authenticity of the photo, but have released a statement regarding its leak, which they say has "generated an internal investigation."

"The photograph has the appearance of one taken during an official Domestic Violence investigation," the statement reads.

"The Los Angeles Police Department takes seriously its duty to maintain the confidentiality of victims of domestic violence. The Department launched an immediate internal investigation and subsequently filed a personnel complaint," it continues.

They are asking for information from anyone who knows how the leak happened, and urges them to contact their offices during business hours.

Neither singer have been spotted in public since the alleged assault incident took place in Los Angeles during the early morning hours of Sunday, February 8, the day the Grammys were held.

Since it happened, there have been several sources leaking information to numerous publications, but Brown has been the only party to release a formal statement, where he apologized and refuted many published reports.

"Words cannot begin to express how sorry and saddened I am over what transpired," he said in a statement via his rep. "I am seeking the counseling of my pastor, my mother and other loved ones and I am committed, with God's help, to emerging a better person. Much of what has been speculated or reported on blogs and/or reported in the media is wrong."

He did not go into details about the alleged assault either.

So far, Brown has been charged with making criminal threats, and investigators are said to be building a case against the 19-year-old singer for possible felony assault charges.
