Legendary rapper Guru, formerly of Gangstarr, along with his in-house producer Solar, are preparing the release of a brand new collaboration, Guru 8.0 Lost & Found.
Following up a sold-out winter tour, which included stops at the 2009 Winter X Games and Sundance Film Festival, the long overdue album is slated for April.
The new album is different from his Jazzmatazz album series -- where he collaborated with several other artists including Chaka Khan, Herbie Hancock, Isaac Hayes, and Erykah Badu, to name a few. This time around, Guru sheds the featured guest crutch, aside from spots from his own 7 Grand artist, dubbing the album "hip-hop in its purest form."
Lost & Found also boasts the first ever appearance of producer Solar as an emcee.
It is slated for release April 21 on Guru's own 7 Grand Records.
Guru and Solar launched 7 Grand Records in 2004, and has released several successful indie project since -- including Version 7.0: The Street Scriptures, which sold over 100,000 copies; and Jazzmatazz Vol. 4: The Hip Hop Jazz Messenger: Back to the Future, receiving critical acclaim both for its inspiring lyrics and phenomenal production, topping at 150,000 units worldwide.
