More info is surfacing in Chris Brown's alleged assault of his girlfriend/singer Rihanna. It was previously unknown why the two had gotten into an argument while in Los Angeles for the Grammys, but now several rumors are spreading.
According to a report by the New York Daily News, the fight was sparked by a text message Brown received from another woman.
The couple were driving in a rented Lamborghini around Hancock Park, after leaving a pre-Grammy party early Sunday morning (February 8), when their altercation took place.
An anonymous source spilled the beans.
"He got a booty call. He got a text," the source told the paper. "Rihanna saw it and she got upset. They started to argue. She got out of the car. He wanted her to get back in, so he grabbed her. "She pulled away. That's when she told people he hit her."
When police finally arrived on the scene, after responding to a 911 call, Brown had fled while Rihanna was left with "visible injuries," the source said.
Brown later turned himself in and was charged with making criminal threats, and is currently under investigation on a possible felony domestic violence charge.
Rihanna is said to be fully cooperating with investigators in the case.
The singer has since canceled a performance in Malaysia, scheduled for the weekend, and a party in New York planned for her 21st birthday on February 20.
