Nick Cannon has been tapped to replace Jerry Springer as host of the NBC reality show, "America's Got Talent," which begins its fourth season in the summer.
According to Reuters, the rapper/actor's new post at the show is part of a deal Cannon landed with NBC, who wanted to bring a younger face to the reality show.
The show's current judges include older celebs Sharon Osbourne, Piers Morgan and David Hasselhoff. With Cannon, the hope to boost their numbers among 18-49 demographic, despite being the most -watched show in the summer among total viewers.
Cannon will be the third host for "Talent," which launched in 2006 with Regis Philbin at the helm. Springer bowed out last week.
In addition to the hosting job, the rapper/actor/husband of Mariah Carey will work on several other projects with NBC as well.
"I'm thrilled to be working with NBC," Cannon said, adding that the network "understand my vision as not only an entertainer but as a creative show producer."
