The half brother of well-known rapper Apl.de.ap, a member of the Grammy award winning group Black Eyed Peas, was gunned down early Tuesday morning (February 3) in the Philippines.

According to the Phil Star, Joven Deala was shot and killed inside his SUV while parked in front of the apartment of his girlfriend in Barangay Ninoy Aquino Angeles City at around 1 a.m.

He was just 21 years old.

City police director Senior Superintendent Pierre Bucsit told the paper that Deala and his girlfriend, who has yet to be identified, were eating inside the SUV when two suspects fired several shots Deala who was in the driver's seat. He sustained a single bullet wound in his left side of his head.

There were no suspects identified, as of press time.

He was the half-brother of Apl.de.ap, who migrated to the U.S. 23 years ago, and went on to become a member of the Black Eyed Peas quartet.
