Max B, the former member of Jim Jones' Byrd Gang, was implicated by his girlfriend in a 2006 robbery that resulted in a murder.
In late 2006, the rapper (real name: Charly Wingate) and his girlfriend Gina Conway were arrested and charged with murder after a robbery in New Jersey ended in the death of 29-year-old David Taylor.
Max was subsequently held on $2 million bail, and was finally released in mid-2007, after serving seven months in jail, and has been free ever since.
Now, according to NorthJersey.com, new evidence has been unveiled, when Conway admitted Tuesday (January 13) that Max B recruited an associate to rob two men -- David Taylor and Allan "Jay" Plowden -- after she told him that they drove flashy cars and carried a lot of cash.
She claimed Max B and Kelvin Leerdam formulated a plan to rob the two men, and she assisted. They confronted and duct-taped Plowden in his room, and although he had a reported $30,000 in his room, he said that Taylor had the cash.
Both Conway and Leerdam then forced him to call his friend, and have him come over to his room. When Taylor arrived, he was shot in the head.
Leerdam and Wingate are both charged with murder. Their cases are pending in Superior Court in Hackensack.
Conway was facing life if prison if convicted with murder, but was offered a plea offer in exchange for testimony. She pleaded guilty to manslaughter and armed robbery, and could receive up to 18 years in prison when she is sentenced March 21.
