R. Kelly and his wife of 11 years, Andrea Lee Kelly, are officially divorced, a statement from their lawyers said Thursday (January 8).

The singer and wife will share joint custody of their three children, but other details regarding the divorce were not disclosed.

According to a report from People, Kelly and Andrea have been through their ups and downs during the singer's six-year-long child pornography case, and in 2005, she filed for an emergency protective order to keep Kelly away from her following claims of physical abuse, which she rescinded weeks later.

Then, in 2006, the couple filed for divorce. However, they were reportedly trying to work through it.

They originally married in 1996, two years after the then-20-year-old Andrea had auditioned as a backup dancer for Kelly. She then went on to handle most of the choreography for his tours, videos and live performances.
