Former NBA player Antoine Walker was charged with suspicion of drunk driving in Miami Beach early Monday morning (January 5), hurting his chances of getting back on the court this season.
According to the Associated Press, Walker was driving a black Mercedes without the lights on, prompting police to pull him over at around 5:39 a.m. When questioning the basketball player, officers reported detected a strong odor of alcohol, and in their report, wrote that he had a sleepy look on his face.
He refused a breathalyzer test, and was jailed.
Walker was being held Monday on a $1,000 bond.
The former NBA star struggled in 46 games last season with the Minnesota Timberwolves last season. His contract was bought out by the Memphis Grizzlies in December, making him a free agent.
Walker has not played this season, but has said that he wants to sign with another NBA team.
