She's been in the industry since she was a teenager, but despite all the hard work and quiet heartbreaks, all Keyshia Cole really wants is to start a family.
The singer is just 27 years of age, but in the next five years, according to an interview with BET, she hopes to be knee deep in family life.
"To be a mother and raise kids," Cole said when asked what she hopes to achieve in the coming years.
According to Cole, she's like to give her kids things she didn't have as a child. One immediate thing, obviously, is the luxuries her success has afforded her.
"I want to raise my kids to have some of the things I never had. But also, I’m excited about bringing another life into this world," she tells BET.com. "It's a beautiful thing to be able to have that spiritual connection to another human being."
For the signer, that dream will have to wait, because she still needs "to find the right guy." If you listen to her music throughout the years, you know she's had her share of heartbreak.
So, instead of starting a family right now, she's focused on her career -- something Cole says has been one of the hardest things to do because she's forced to be away from her own family so much.
"The hardest part of my career has been working really hard, seeing everybody else's life, family, and not being able to spend time with family," she said. "That's the hardest part, so I don't get to do all that. It's just not being able to spend as much time with my family, [but] not to have a family of my own."
On the music end, Cole has released her third album, A Different Me. It's in stores now.
