The death of R&B singer Sean Levert in late March has led to the reform of prescription medicine policies in the Cleveland jail where he passed, and possibly even jails across the country.

According to the Associated Press, Cleveland's Cuyahoga County jail has led proposed new policy that would provide more flexibility in giving inmates their anti-anxiety medication.

The jail administrator and a jail doctor proposed the change to allow inmates to get their prescribed medication, following the March death of 39-year-old Levert.

Levert became ill while serving time for failure to pay child support. The singer's widow has accused jail officials of not giving him his required prescription Xanax, despite initial reports from a coroner who said Levert died of natural causes.

The jail administrator and a jail doctor proposed the change to allow inmates to get their prescribed medication as soon as their prescriptions are verified.

Levert's widow, Angela Lowe, filed a wrongful death lawsuit in June accusing jail officials of neglecting his medical needs.
