2008-02-26 - Grand Theft Auto IV - GTASpike TV's 2008 Video Game Awards (VGA) went down at the Sony Picture Studios on Sunday (December 14) in Los Angeles, and the night's big winner was Rockstar Games' "Grand Theft Auto IV."

"GTA IV" took home honors for Best Action-Adventure Game, Best Performance by a Human Male, and the night's highest honor, Game of the Year.

The game is the latest installment of Rockstar's popular action series, and it faced stiff competition from titles like "Fallout 3," "Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots," and "Gears of War 2." But, with its instant popularity after its release, it was 2008's powerhouse title.

Hosted by actor/comedian Jack Black, the 6th annual event drew several celebs and musicians, thanks to the event's partnership with Interscope Geffen A&M who provided the evening's music.

The label helped in bringing in the night's entertainment, with performances by rock bands, the All-American Rejects and Weezer, as well as a performance by 50 Cent.

50 brought the house down with a performance of his brand new single, "Get Up," which helped him promote his upcoming video game titled "50 Cent: Blood in the Sand" with footage leaked from the game.

Other celebs who made appearances included Kim Kardashian, Eliza Dushku, and Tony Hawk, among others.

Also, LL Cool J performed his '91 single "Mama Said Knock You Out," with special guests from the UFC including its president Dana White, as well as fighters Rampage Jackson, Frank Mir, Wanderlei Silva, and others.
