It's been Lil Wayne's biggest year in his long career in music. With the success of his long-awaited Tha Carter III album, the rapper now is set to follow it up with a feature documentary named after the album.
According to MTV, Weezy will be focusing on a documentary called "The Carter," which is already set to premiere at the 25th annual Sundance Film Festival in mid-January.
The documentary was directed by Adam Bhala Lough, who previously directed "The Upsetter: The Life and Times of Lee 'Scratch' Perry" that documented the legendary reggae producer and his contributions to the genre.
"The Carter," however, is said to take "an in-depth, intimate look at the artist Dwayne 'Lil Wayne' Carter Jr., proclaimed by many as the 'greatest rapper alive.' "
A trailer for the film (which can be viewed on YouTube) opens with the rapper standing onstage before a screaming crowd who becomes increasingly louder after Wayne says, "I ain't sh** without you." The clip is mainly concert footage with Weezy's voice heard in a voice-over explaining how his love for rap from the beginning has turned him into the star he is today.
"When they played hide-and-go-seek, I'd be on the porch rapping. When they played football, I'd be on the porch rapping," he says.
No word on the date the film is debut at the festival.
