Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb welcomed two new additions to his family this Tuesday (December 2), when his wife Roxie gave birth to twins.

The football player and his wife delivered a boy and a girl. Their names were not disclosed at press time.

"People talk about how family is the most important thing in your life and it is," McNabb said at a news conference, according to USA Today. "No matter what happens out on the football field, you always know that you go home to the loving individuals who just truly love you for who you are, not what you do."

McNabb acknowledged that the impending births were probably on his mind the last few weeks, and might have affected his performance on the field.

"I can't sit here and say, 'Yes,' that it wasn't on my mind in the previous weeks," he said. "But I tried to not let if affect my play, knowing that I didn't play as well as I wanted to in the previous weeks."

While the QB admitted the drawbacks of having his family on his mind during the season, his team mate, safety Brian Dawkins (whose wife gave birth to twins last year) said the twins may now help McNabb now that they're here.

"When those babies are born and everybody is healthy, it is such a blessing," Dawkins said. "It is such a burden off your shoulders. It's such a release of newfound energy that you really get from that type of life being brought into your household."

With the twins' births behind him, the QB is ready to get back to business, and will have that opportunity when the Eagles face the New York Giants on Sunday (December 7).

The McNabbs also have a 4-year-old daughter, Alexis.
