Two Skinheads Arrested Over Plot To Kill Barack Obama
By Miles Bennett ♦ Published 10/28/2008

2008-10-28 - Barack Obama and SkinheadTwo white supremacist skinheads were arrested in Tennessee recently when federal authorities uncovered a plot to assassinate Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama, according to several reports.

Court documents revealed Monday (October 27) that 20-year-old Daniel Cowart and 18-year-old Paul Schlesselman were plotting to go on a killing spree, in which they planned to kill more than 100 African-Americans -- including 14 that were to be beheaded -- before capping off their violent rampage by killing Obama.

The two young men were arrested and charged with illegal possession of a sawed-off shotgun, conspiracy to rob a gun dealer, and making threats against a presidential candidate.

They were arrested last week after an aborted robbery attempt outside Memphis, Tennessee.

Although authorities didn't believe that Cowart and Schlesselman had any details about Obama's schedule, they said every threat is taken seriously.

"We take this very, very seriously but we see no evidence these guys have the ability or the wherewithal to pull off what they say they wanted to do," one law enforcement source said, according to CNN.com.

In court documents, both men planned to charge at Obama in their car, while firing from the windows. During the violence, they planned to wear white tuxedos and top hats. They also said that they were willing to die during their attempt, reports the Associated Press.

Obama would be the first black president in history if he wins the November 4th election against John McCain. The Secret Service began providing Obama with round-the-clock security early on in his campaign over concerns of his safety.

This isn't the first threat against the presidential hopeful. There's been two other previous arrests.

The first came when federal prosecutors concluded that the three people arrested with drugs and weapons in a suburban Denver motel posed a "true threat" to the candidate. The second was from a Florida man, who was charged with threatening bodily harm against the candidate in August. He has pleaded not guilty.

"The U.S. Secret Service takes all threats against presidential candidates seriously and is actively investigating the allegations," Richard Harlow, special agent in charge of the Secret Service-Memphis Field Office, said. "The Secret Service does not comment on this type of investigation."
