Former frontman of family group DeBarge is sitting in jail after a recent bust for drug possession.
According to TMZ, singer El DeBarge (real name: Patrick Eldra DeBarge) was arrested in Los Angeles early this October after police discovered two outstanding warrants for his arrest.
He was booked and charged with possession of a controlled substance -- crack cocaine . However, the amount of drugs on his person was not specified.
The singer was charged with several offenses last year, including vandalism, drugs and domestic violence.
Update: TMZ reports that DeBarge appeared in court on Tuesday (October 28), and the judge sentenced the singer to two years in state prison -- beginning immediately. His conduct during a drug bust earlier this month is what led the judge to violate his probation, stemming from a drug case in 2007.
El DeBarge is the fifth of eight brothers, and sixth of ten DeBarge family members. He formed the singing group, DeBarge, in 1978 with his siblings Mark, Randy, James and Bunny.
The DeBarge brothers became known after a string of pop and R&B hits that included "All This Love," "Love Me in a Special Way" and "I Like It."
