If you're unaware, Ne-Yo and rapper Yung Berg have exchanged a few words as of late. First, it was Ne-Yo who threw a few jabs Berg's way while being interviewed on Los Angeles radio show, "Big Boy's Neighborhood."
When Big asked the singer what person he'd want to slap with three fingers, he replied with Yung Berg. Why? Because he claims the young rapper is not being creative and for biting T-Pain and Lil Wayne with the use of the Auto-Tune effect on his single "The Business."
Following Ne-Yo's words, Berg took to the internet, via a video blog on WorldStarHipHop, in which he insulted the singer with constant jabs at his sexuality, and referred to him repeatedly as "Miss Independent."
"It's unfortunate that so early, at Big Boy in the morning, you will wake up on my d***," Berg said.
"Miss Independent, what's poppin'? I see you homie. It ain't really nothing with me and you. Ain't no beef, we go all the way back. It's all 100. Did my research recently ... This is your girl who actually just called right now ... or whatever, you never know with him," the rapper continued, before displaying numerous photos of a young Ne-Yo.
Despite all the disrespect from Berg, Ne-Yo told MTV recently that there will be no back and forth with the rapper. The singer said he's too grown for that kind of situation.
"Response for what?" he said. "That ain't my lane, dude. I don't beef. I don't do that. That ain't my thing. I don't do dis records. I don't do beef. I don't do any of that blogs talking about cats. I don't do that. That ain't my thing. I'm a grown man. I got money to make.
"I can't work with people that's doing this for the fame element or the money element," Ne-Yo continued. "I think that's what's destroying music. You got cats out here that are copycatting and doing stuff that's popular. You know, doing it because that's what's in right now, whatever the case may be -- but basically what you're doing is killing music. You're killing the creative element of what this is, which was the basis of this whole thing, which is self-expression."
There you have it. No beef.
So, in the meantime, Ne-Yo is gonna focus on his work, he told MTV. He's expected to write records for upcoming albums for Usher, Whitney Houston and Michael Jackson.
