Eminem Talks New Book, Reveals Details About New Album
By Miles Bennett ♦ Published 10/16/2008

EminemEminem came out of the bat cave on Wednesday night (October 15) to celebrate the release of his upcoming book, titled The Way I Am. During the evening, Em granted DJ Kay Slay and Angela Yee an interview on Shade 45, discussing some of his ideas behind the book.

According to the book's description, via Amazon, he shares his private thoughts on everything from his inner struggles, to the trials of being famous, to his love for his daughter, Hailie, creating a book that is every bit as raw and uncensored.

Em and 50 also explained that it will showcase Em's unique style of writing lyrics, a measure the rapper uses to disguise his song ideas if he ever loses his notebook.

"The Way I Am is really interesting because of the way Em actually writes his lyrics," 50 explained on Shade 45. "[It's] in different areas and pieces, and you won't understand it. It's like a riddle. That's real emcee sh** right there. If people actually found it, they would actually know, said 50...

"There's a couple reasons I do that," Em added. "One is obviously because I don't want people looking at my sh**, if I set it down somewhere or I lose it. They won't be able to tell what's going on, but I will know what's going on. It's also like random thoughts. You talked about the different color ink and all that ... that's because I grab the first pen I can find when I get a thought in my head and write it down right then and there because I'll forget it forever if I don't."

The Way I Am is slated to hit bookstores October 21.

In addition to talking about his book, Eminem also revealed new info about his long-awaited new album, including its title.

"There's a lot of album titles that's floating around out there that's like fake album titles, bullsh** album titles. I was just gonna tell everybody the real title of my album is coming out, it's called Relapse," Slim revealed.

"The three-headed monster returns," 50 added. "It's Before I Self Destruct, Relapse then Detox ... [Eminem] never really loses representation because I'm still out and about. I think people forget because of the success I've been having with my joint-venture with G-Unit, as a record company, that I'm signed to Eminem's company Shady/Aftermath. The real reality is as long as you see 50 Cent functioning and active out there, you're actually looking at a reflection of Eminem. I wouldn't exist if he didn't decide to make the deal happen. Ebony and ivory."

Em also said that so far, this album is being produced almost entirely by Dr. Dre, while he focuses strictly on the writing portion.

"The majority of it is produced by Dre this time," said Em. "I let him kinda take the driver's seat because I wanted to kinda just be able to ... not having to worry about making my own beats and concentrating on that, worrying about how loud a snare was. I wanted to be able to just write it. That's the luxury you get when you're with Dre because I can just go in there and I can write whatever, at my own pace, however I wanna do it."

Aside from Dre, currently the only guest appearance on Em's new album is 50 Cent, and vice versa for 50's upcoming album. However, both rappers said they are still in the recording process.

The Shady / Aftermath / G-Unit releases are as follows: Before I Self Destruct hits stores December 9th, while Em's album is expected to follow shortly after, with Dre's Detox coming right behind that. No release dates have been set for Em and Dre's respective albums.
