Cash Money Records founder, Birdman, is reportedly being sued by a concert promoter who claims the label head set up a Lil Wayne concert in Miami, but backed out several times.
According to documents obtained by TMZ.com, Illuminaty, Inc. claimed to have invested $275,000 to produce a concert featuring both Birdman (real name: Bryan Williams) and Lil Wayne, through a business partner of the rapper.
Originally, the concert was set for November 23, 2007 in New Orleans, but was "cancelled due to lack of time to promote the event," "schedule the talent," and weather restrictions.
The event was re-scheduled for January 5, 2008 in Miami. However, the concert was cancelled yet again, due to timing restraints. They re-scheduled once more, for March 16, with Illuminaty advancing money for production and marketing expenses, but it again was cancelled.
The concert backer filed a lawsuit in Los Angeles Superior Court Wednesday (October 15), claiming breach of contract for failing to come through with the agreed upon show.
Additionally, the defendant claims that he's suffered shame, mortification, humiliation, worry, anxiety, stress, and emotional distress, which they plan to put an amount to at trial.
They are seeking damages in excess of $275,000, attorney fees, and punitive damages.
