You know something, sometimes I feel like my rap name should have MacGyver or something, haha. I'm always using what I have, which is usually not much, to make something out of nothing. You have to do the same.
It's very hard to achieve your goals when you're lacking the proper resources. You have to be innovative, extremely creative and also learn how to find different uses for things you already have. I can't give away all the secrets, but suffice it to say I'm turning water to wine over here, haha. When push comes to shove, you have to really think on your feet and adapt to the situation so you can find a solution. Call it what you want, but using what you have to get what you want is something EVERYONE needs to do at times. Use your imagination.
I always hear up-and-coming artists use various excuses as to why they are not where they want to be. I'll give you a couple examples, here's a common one: "I don't have money for (insert whatever)." Well let me in on a little secret, NEITHER DO I!!!!! I don't pay for press, radio play, etc. I just use what resources and tools I DO have to help get what I need done. Here's another one: "I don't have any big name producers or artists to work with..." Your point is what exactly? Do you know how many talented up-and-comers there are out there? Find them. A beat from Timbaland or collab with T-Pain does not guarantee you a deal. Here's a popular one: "I'm not signed, so I can't make it happen." Where have you been for the past couple of years? Nowadays, you don't NEED a label to make it and independent artists are thriving in today's market. The bottom-line is you need to make due with what you have and use it to better your current situation. The most successful people on earth learn to use this talent early on.
Long story short, you have to you have to realize that "Necessity is the mother of all invention" and it is this sort of logic that have made diamonds out of coal. "MacGyver" was one of my favorite shows growing up and I found it really entertaining. Who would have thought I'd use the same ideologies from a TV show to make my career successful?
