Living Legends Prepare New Albums, Tour Dates
Published 03/12/2008, by Jay Casteel

Underground veterans, the Living Legends, locked themselves into the studio over the past few months to complete their new album, titled The Gathering.

The new set, due in April, will feature every single MC of the group -- comprised of Murs, The Grouch, Luckyiam, Eligh, Scarub, Sunspot Jonz, Aesop Fables, and Bicasso -- on every single song of the forthcoming album, which they are calling their "most well crafted batch since their inception."

The album is a seven song collection, which serves as a pre-cursor to the group's next full length effort expected later this year.

Additionally, group member The Grouch is also preparing a new album, his first solo project in five years and a work in progress that took three years to complete. "I worked on this record for almost three years," said The Grouch of how he's developed as an artist. "More, this record was an idea that sprang to mind after the birth of my daughter, Rio, in 2006. As soon as she arrived, all I could do is think about wanting to show her everything that I love. I was quickly humbled when I realized I was learning as much from her as she was from me."

The new album, titled Show You The World, is The Grouch's 15-track solo effort, which features guest appearances from singer Raphael Saadiq, Murs, and his fellow Living Legends brothers Bicasso and Scarub. The Grouch's Show You The World and the group album The Gathering are both slated for release on April 8, via Legendary Music, the label owned and operated by the members themselves for nearly a decade.

As a collective, the prolific crew has sold well over a quarter million records between them. Most recently, the Legends brought on a full label staff of industry veterans known for an expertise in grass roots marketing and label development, signed a new distribution deal with leading independent record distributor ADA Distribution, and signed with booking agency, The Kork Agency.

Since signing with Kork, the Legends have a headlining theater tour booked in March that is punctuated with a headlining showcase at SXSW and a featured performance on the 3rd annual Paid Dues Festival, co-founded by Legends member Murs with Hip Hop juggernaut promoters, Guerilla Union (Rock the Bells, Smokeout, etc). Along with the Legends, the bill includes Sage Francis, Little Brother, Dilated Peoples, Jedi Mind Tricks, Hieroglyphics, Boot Camp Click, POS, and others.
