The Game Is Free, A Jail Rep Says
Published 03/11/2008, by Ronnie Gamble

The Game is free, despite the contradicting reports that surfaced across the web on Monday (March 10), a jail rep told MTV.

As shown on the Los Angeles County sheriff's records, he was released Sunday (March 9) from the Los Angeles County Jail, also known as the Twin Towers.

While contradicting statements were released from the rapper's manager and lawyer, a rep from the Twin Towers Correctional Facility confirmed with MTV that The Game (real name: Jayceon Taylor) was indeed released from custody and not transferred to another jail, as stated by the rapper's manager Jimmy "Henchmen" Rosemond.

The rep said that if Game would have been transferred -- which is a regular practice, due to overcrowding -- his records would show where he was being sent next. Thus, he confirmed, Game is free.

Game's attorney, Shawn Chapman Holley, told TMZ on Monday the rapper was released and is now on probation.

However, his management said otherwise.

"Reports stating that the Game has been released from prison are false," Jimmy Rosemond said in the statement. "Although he was transferred from the Twin Towers, he is not expected to be released until early April in time to promote his upcoming album, L.A.X. Times. The Game and his family would like to thank his fans for their continued support."

The rep confirmed with MTV that Game was released from custody March 9 at 11:34 p.m., after serving just eight days of a 60-day sentence for a felony charge of possession of a firearm in a school zone.

He turned himself in to begin serving his time on March 2.

The charge stemmed from an incident that occurred during a pick-up game at the Rita Walters Educational Learning Complex in Los Angeles in February 2007, in which he allegedly threatened to players of the opposing team with a handgun.
