In the magazine world, some big news broke Monday (January 7) -- XXL's editor-in-chief, Elliott Wilson, has been fired.

Yep, the longtime head at the hip-hop magazine was fired as of Monday, according to news from Sohh.com.

Sources from inside the magazine's offices confirmed the termination with the website, but as of press time, no reason was given.

Deputy Editor, Vanessa Satten, has been appointed interim EIC, Sohh reports.

Wilson is a veteran in the hip-hop journalist community, writing as a freelancer for over 10 years. He's held positions at The Source, XXL and Scratch, and in 1994, launched his own Ego Trip magazine.
