A 25-year-old man was stabbed to death in a Manhattan nightclub on Friday (November 23) just hours after hanging with good friend / rapper Fabolous.

According to the Associated Press, Shamel McKinney staggered out of the Duvet nightclub at around 3:30 a.m. with wounds to his the torso and collapsed on the street.

Other papers are speculating that the stabbing stemmed from a fight between two women in the club, but it is not clear how McKinney was involved in the scuffle.

"The fight broke out, but he had nothing to do with it," the victim's brother, Darryl McKinney, told the New York Daily News. "He got caught in the middle."

Although it is said that the victim was hanging out with longtime friend Fabolous hours before, it is unclear if the rapper was still with him during the time of the fatal stabbing.

Investigators are looking to interview the rapper, police sources told the Daily News.

McKinney was taken to a nearby hospital shortly after police found him outside with stab wounds. He was pronounced dead on arrival.

The AP reports that police found a knife in a dumpster near the club, but was not immediately clear if it was the knife used in the stabbing.

As of Friday night, no arrests had been made.
