Swisha House label founder, Michael "5000" Watts, is the latest industry person to become an official member of the Bum Squad DJ'z family, a music industry and DJ collective founded by Latin Prince.
The Bum Squad family is excited about the addition to their new family member.
"We have some of the best up-and-coming talent, as far as our DJs are concerned, and having someone like Michael '5000' Watts on board to serve as a mentor to some of our younger DJs who can just sit back and learn from watching the amazing moves that this man has made is a great opportunity for our crew," Latin Prince said in a statement.
The coalition recently celebrated a milestone year with regards to branding itself with events such as its Annual Bum Squad DJ'z Family Reunion, and the DJ Screwfest.
It also recently entered into an exclusive endorsement deal with Skull Candy, and are set to launch their own energy drink, which will hit stores in early 2008.
Watts is known throughout the South for his signature brand of Chopped & Screwed remixes. But, he also continues to work as a DJ with shows on a plethora of radio stations throughout the nation, further promoting his Swisha House remix brand.
He has a mix show on Saturdays on K104 in Dallas, as well as shows on KMJJ 99.7 in Shreveport, Louisiana, 102.7 The Blade in Tyler, Texas, and also V103 in Cottage Station, Texas. But, his biggest show, according to Watts, is 97.9 The Box in Houston, Texas on Sundays where he airs nothing but Swisha House mixes, screwed and chopped.
Despite running several shows, he says he gives each one its own attention. "I'm dedicated to doing those shows every week. I try to make sure I stay in the streets and in touch with what's going on," said Watts.
The Bum Squad DJ'z have chapters across the globe, including members in Croatia, UK, France, and Spain, boasting over 10,000 registered Sound Bank users and 200 Official Bum Squad DJ members.
