Kanye West has finally issued a statement regarding his mother's death, thanking fans for their support.

"Kanye West, his family and friends would like to thank everyone for the outpouring of support and kind words that have come in from across the country since the death of his mother, Dr. Donda West," read a statement given to the press by the West family.

On Tuesday (November 13) a cosmetic surgeon, who claims to have operated on Donda West, revealed that there were no problems with the operation itself -- and that her death was due to medical problems.

Dr. Jan Adams told TMZ that he performed a tummy tuck and breast reduction on Donda West, but that she might have died from a heart attack, pulmonary embolism, or massive vomiting.

Adams said Donda consulted with him over a period of four months, often changing her mind about the surgery.

She had also spoken with a previous plastic surgeon, Dr. Andre Aboolian of Beverly Hills, who told her that he was worried about a pre-existing condition she had. He told her two weeks ago that she needed to get a medical clearance before he would agree to do the surgery. He never heard back from her, obviously because she went to a different surgeon.

Donda died Saturday night (November 10) at Centinela Freeman Regional Medical Center in Marina Del Rey after she stopped breathing at her home. She was taken to the hospital by paramedics.

She was just 58 years old.

Also in the statement given by the West family, they asked for those sending donations, please send them to the organization set up by West and his mother, Loop Dreams, whose goal is to cut the drop-out rate in American.

"In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Dr. West's name to the Kanye West Foundation/Loop Dreams Teacher Training Institute," the statement read.
