By now, everyone has head the reports about the death of Kanye West's mother, Dr. Donda West, on Saturday (November 10) in Los Angeles, but until Monday (November 12), details have been sketchy and still are.
On Monday, Patricia Green, the publicist for Donda West, told CNN that the 58-year-old former college professor died following "cosmetic procedure," but did not give any further details in the sudden death.
West died at Centinela Freeman Hospital in Marina Del Rey, California at 9 p.m. A representative of West's record label, Island Def Jam, said that "the family respectfully asks for privacy during this time of grief."
According to Gossip site TMZ, Donda died from complications of plastic surgery she was having done -- specifically a tummy tuck and breast reduction.
The site reports that weeks before Donda West died, a plastic surgeon refused to perform procedures on her because of a health condition that could have led to a heart attack. She was told that she needed to get clearance from an internist whom was recommended to her. But, she didn't, and went elsewhere to get the procedure done.
Donda is the former chairwoman of Chicago State University's English department, and served as chief executive of West Brands LLC, the parent company of her son's business enterprises.
