Mobb Deep's Prodigy pleaded guilty to a weapons charge in Manhattan Supreme Court on Tuesday (October 9) and got a pretty stiff sentence for admitting guilt.

The rapper (real name: Albert Johnson) admitted in his trial proceedings that the unlicensed .22-caliber pistol found in his Chevy Suburban during a traffic stop last October, was in fact his, according to the Daily News.

P, 32, initially claimed to have no knowledge of the weapon, which was found in the vehicle's front center console.

Since this is the rapper's third gun rap, he struck a deal with prosecutors, limiting his sentence to 3 1/2 years instead of the usual 15 -- the sentence normally given to felons who are facing their third weapons charge.

Both Prodigy and producer The Alchemist were charged with criminal possession of a weapon during the original arrest, but The Alchemist's charge was later dismissed.

At press time, there is no immediate word as to when Prodigy is scheduled to begin serving his sentence.
