Authorities who have been investigating animal neglect allegations against DMX have recently revealed that two dogs found buried at the rapper's Arizona home had serious wounds to their bodies.

According to the Associated Press, one of the buried dogs had serious bite wounds, while the other had trauma to its abdomen. A third carcass was burned so badly that an exam of its remains was inconclusive, said Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio.

While X (real name: Earl Simmons) has yet to be charged, Arpaio says as the investigation continues that may change.

"Someone's going to have to pay for this," the sheriff told the AP. "We have 12 dogs who were abused and three dogs buried in the yard -- someone's going to have to pay."

The dog remains were found in August when authorities were continuing their investigation at the rapper's home in Phoenix, Arizona. Also found during the search was a half-pound of suspected illegal narcotics, which later turned out not to be drugs at all, despite the substance not being revealed.

X's home was raided on August 24 after neighbors called local police to report that the dogs on the property were at risk due to the extreme heat of Arizona. During the raid, Maricopa County Sheriff's Deputies seized 12 pitbulls, which they described as distressed, as well as an unknown number of weapons.

The rapper's attorney, Murray Richman, told the media shortly after the allegations came to light that X has a caretaker who was supposed to be taking care of the dogs and that "all sorts of people" had been staying at the home.

Questioning how investigators could connect the rapper to any allegations of animal abuse, Richman stated: "How do you attribute activities to a person who has not been there, when they have knowledge that other persons have been," he asked? "Is it because of the celebrity nature?"
