Kanye West Upset With MTV, Says He'll 'Never Return'
By Miles Bennett ♦ Published 09/10/2007

Is Kanye West ever happy? After throwing fits at awards ceremonies in the past after being snubbed for certain awards, the Chicago rapper is doing it again, because he didn't get the treatment he felt he deserved at this past weekend's MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs).

According to the Associated Press, West "lost it" backstage. This time around, it was because his performances throughout the evening were performed in the Palms Hotel & Casino's suites, instead of on the mainstage, like Chris Brown, Justin Timberlake and others.

"Kanye was watching the closing performance [a medley featuring Justin Timberlake, Timbaland and Nelly Furtado] on a closed-circuit monitor, and he started getting upset," a source who was backstage told MTV.com. "He started asking anyone who'd listen why he wasn't allowed to perform on the main stage. 'Why did I perform in just a suite?' he was saying. 'Justin's my boy, but even he gets to perform in both a suite and on the main stage? Something's wrong here.' "

He was also angry that Britney opened the show, instead of him. West is quoted as saying, "she hasn't had a hit record in years."

In addition, according to the AP, the rapper/producer was also upset that he did not win one awards, despite being nominated in five categories.

"That's two years in a row, man ... I'm trying hard, man, I have the ... #1 record, man," he reportedly yelled.

The AP also reported that West was so mad that he vowed to "never return to MTV."

West or his label, Def Jam, had no comment at press time.
