50 Cent filed a lawsuit against internet ad firm, Traffix Inc., for a reported $1 million in damages for an ad that appeared on several websites titled "Shoot The Rapper."
In the ad, created by the company, 50 Cent is featured as a caricature that fans could shoot at as they click their mice for a chance to win prizes -- including $5,000 or five ringtones.
The rapper is suing for the company for using his name and likeness without permission, implying that he has endorsed it.
"For all those reasons, he is personally offended," 50 Cent's lawyer Peter Raymond told the Associated Press.
The ads in question appeared on Myspace.com shortly after the infamous Virginia Tech shootings. Shortly after they begin to circulate, media watchdog groups publically criticized the ad companies for using suggestive images so short after the tragedy.
"Imagine the outcry if Fox Television ran a 60-second spot that said, 'Shoot the American Idol star -- on our Web site -- and win $5,000.' This is no different," said Peter Zollman of Poynter.org.
