Former House Of Pain frontman, Everlast, recently wrote and recorded the new theme song to TNT's new drama series, "Saving Grace," which stars Holly Hunter.
The track, also titled "Saving Grace," will premiere during the show's first episode on July 23, and play during it's main title sequence and end credits.
The music of Everlast (real name: Erik Schrody) proved inspirational to show creator and executive producer Nancy Miller, who listened to Everlast recordings -- particularly the 2004 track "Lonely Road" -- while writing the pilot script.
Once TNT ordered the series, Fox Television Studios (FtvS), which produces the show for TNT, and Fox Music worked to harness that inspiration, ultimately striking a deal with the Grammy-winning artist to write and record "Saving Grace." FtvS is currently exploring licensing other Everlast material for use in individual episodes.
"I was turned on to Everlast by our music supervisor," said Miller. "The second I heard his voice, I went crazy over it. He has such a sexy, interesting voice. I fell in love with his music; in fact, I listened to his CDs in my car so much that I burned them out. His lyrics speak so much to the struggle of Grace -- her pain, her heroic nature -- that I immediately connected to them. I feel like Everlast is the musical 'Godfather' of our series."
"It was great to get the call from Fox -- not only to find out that Nancy Miller was a fan, but also to be asked to write a song for such a cool show," added Everlast. "The timing couldn't be better; I'm back in the studio working on a new album. This project was a great way to kick that off."
The full-length track and video will be available online at major music retailers including iTunes and Rhapsody, and will be available for streaming at TNT.com.

After leaving House of Pain in 1996, Everlast set his sights on a solo career where he traded in his mic for a guitar and began singing instead. His first solo record, Whitey Ford Sings the Blues, was both a commercial and critical success, selling more than 3 million copies, according to Wikipedia.
He is also working on more hip-hop with his newly formed group, La Coka Nostra -- which includes former House of Pain mates DJ Lethal and Danny Boy, as well as Non Phixion's Ill Bill and newcomers Slaine and Big Left. But before the release of the group's debut, Everlast plans to release his next solo record first.
