Yung Berg Tells His 'Sexy Lady' It's Time To Move On
By Ronnie Gamble, with reporting by Jay Casteel ♦ Published 04/11/2007

No matter how sexy a lady is, for a young man on the come up, it's hard for him to not give in to temptation, so it's time to move on. Nobody knows this better than rapper Yung Berg. With his quickly rising single, "Sexy Lady," beginning to catch on, it seems as though others are feeling his message as well.

"Everybody knew it was a smash," Yung Berg told BallerStatus.com during his video shoot in Los Angeles over the weekend. "When you get a hit, it's really undeniable, so everybody's basically tipping they hat to me and showing me that love."

And the love is becoming unconditional for the 21-year-old resident of Los Angeles, by way of the Southside of Chicago. So far, he's up to 1,000 spins a week on Los Angeles' Power 106 radio station and that's without his label, Epic, stepping in to line the pockets of DJs either.

"We leaked the single to Power 106... the boy Felli Fel blasted it off and then it started getting crazy requests and started buzzing," recalls the rapper. "We shipped it off and its going nutty right now."

As radio requests come flooding in, Berg felt it was time to give the country some visuals to go along with the song, so he went to work over the weekend, shooting at various locations across the city.

Over the two-day shoot, the young rapper says they put together a video similar what fans saw on Jay-z's "Girls, Girls, Girls" video -- as far as Berg transitioning from different locations as he sets through the doors of a diner, then directly into the club, all the while letting his "main" girl know he has to move on because there's too many ladies waiting in the wings.

"It's more or less like I'm with my main girl in the room and then I pull to this diner to meet my boys and there's all these girls," explained Yung Berg. "Then I take it to the club, so every door I walk out of it's a brand new scene. When I walk out the diner door, I'm gonna transition right into the club, sorta like how Jay-z did "Girls, Girls" -- some of the same elements."

"It's just me and my girl, and there's just too many women, so I gotta move on," he adds.

The Rage Resteghini directed video was fun for Berg to shoot, but he says he can't wait for the release of his debut album, Look What You Made Me, and the future.

"People should expect hits on this album," explained an excited Yung Berg. "Honestly, the whole album is similar to my single in ways, because my whole album is produced by my crew, the Yung Bosses -- two producers, JFK and Rob Holiday. They produced the whole album, so the album will sound similar, but then again, it wouldn't because there is a lot of live instrumentation on the album. We're transitioning ever song together perfectly. I'm really excited about it."

"I'm looking forward to getting a Grammy, that's my goal. That's what the future holds for Yung Berg ... staying humble and working," the rapper continued.

Yung Berg began his music career at the ripe age of 15 when he got signed to DMX's Bloodline Records. But, after the deal didn't pan out, he packed up headed to Los Angeles and has been on the grind ever since.

Now, still young at 21, Berg and his crew leaked "Sexy Lady" to radio and that's when it all began to take off for him. "We leaked the single and the deals just came. I sat down with every major record label exec after the single started getting that burn and it's good now with Epic Records."

The rapper's debut, Look What You Made Me, is slated for release in August and includes guest appearances from Twista, Eve and others.
