Porn giant, Vivid Entertainment, announced Monday (February 26) that they have halted the distribution of the Kim Kardashian/Ray J sex DVD, "Kim Kardashian Superstar."
According to Vivid co-chairman, Steven Hirsch, they've decided to put the DVD's release on hold until the company can set up a meeting with the Hollywood socialite.
"We feel it is most important that we have an opportunity to meet with Ms. Kardashian as soon as possible. We have reached out to her to try to set up a meeting," said Hirsch in a statement.
Although the DVD has been temporarily halted, Vivid maintains that they have "the legal right to distribute" the DVD, after purchasing the tape from a third party for $1 million.
Kardashian filed a suit last Wednesday (February 21) in Los Angeles, which may be the reason for the halt of distribution.
"This tape, which was made three years ago and was meant to be something private between myself and my then boyfriend, is extremely hurtful not only to me, but to my family as well," said Kardashian in a statement released immediately after filing suit. "I am filing legal charges against the company who is distributing this tape since it is being sold completely without my permission or consent."
Vivid announced the release of "Kim Kardashian Superstar" earlier this month, posting online previews of the tape at KimKSuperstar.com.
The DVD was originally scheduled for release Wednesday (February 28), and a new release date was not available at press time.
Kardashian, a high profile socialite and fashion entrepreneur, is the daughter of O.J. Simpson lawyer, Robert Kardashian, the stepdaughter of Olympic Gold Medalist Bruce Jenner and the best friend of Paris Hilton.
Ray J, her sexual partner in the video, is an indie recording artist and brother of singer Brandy.
